Organizer Terms

Additional obligations that apply to anyone who publishes and runs a competition on VoteForCause.

Version 2026-08-12 · Last updated August 12, 2026

This document is a structured draft prepared for review by qualified legal counsel. It has not been reviewed or approved by an attorney and does not constitute legal advice.

1. Scope

These Organizer Terms apply in addition to the Terms of Service to any person or entity that creates, publishes or administers a competition on the Platform. Where there is a conflict on an organizer-specific matter, these Organizer Terms prevail.

Acceptance is recorded at the point of publishing, together with the version of these terms in force at that time.

2. Authority and accuracy

You represent that you have full authority to run the competition, to make the representations shown on your competition page, and to bind the organization on whose behalf you act.

All information you provide — including organizer identity, competition title, purpose, rules, dates, prizes and beneficiary details — must be accurate and kept up to date.

3. Fundraising representations

If your competition states or implies that proceeds support a cause, charity, beneficiary or purpose, that statement must be accurate, and you must be authorized to fundraise for it.

You are responsible for compliance with charitable solicitation registration, disclosure and reporting requirements in every jurisdiction where you solicit, and for delivering funds to the stated beneficiary.

We do not verify beneficiary relationships and do not act as a fundraising agent, trustee or fiscal sponsor.

4. Competition rules

You define your own competition rules, including vote limits, eligibility, tie-breaks, judging (if any) and prize terms. Rules must be published on the competition page before voting opens.

You must not change rules in a way that materially disadvantages participants after voting opens, and must not alter or misrepresent results.

5. Contestant permissions and content rights

For every contestant listed, you must hold permission to publish their name, business name, photograph, biography, links and any other detail shown, including permission for that information to remain published in results after voting closes.

You must promptly remove or correct contestant content on request where you no longer hold permission, and you must respond to contestant complaints in good faith.

6. Paid voting and fees

By enabling paid voting you accept the fee structure disclosed at setup, including the per-transaction platform fee, the percentage platform fee and payment processing costs, and whether you absorb or pass on those costs.

The pricing calculator shown during setup is an estimate. Actual amounts depend on the final transaction, currency conversion, discounts redeemed and processor pricing.

7. Payment account, payouts and holds

Paid voting requires a connected payment account in your name or your organization's name, and completion of identity and business verification by our payment partner.

Charges are made on your connected account. You are the merchant of record for paid votes in your competition. Payouts are subject to the settlement schedule, the post-competition hold period and the reserve described in the Dispute and Chargeback Policy.

8. Chargebacks, reserve and shortfall

Chargebacks, refunds, disputes and associated fees are your financial responsibility and are applied against your balance and reserve.

Where losses exceed amounts held, the shortfall is a debt owed by you, recoverable by offset against future payouts or by direct collection.

9. Anti-fraud cooperation

You must not vote in your own competition, incentivize duplicate or automated voting, or purchase votes. You must cooperate with fraud reviews, including providing evidence for disputes within the deadlines set by the card networks.

We may withhold funds, invalidate votes, suspend or unpublish a competition, and terminate organizer access where fraud or abuse is detected or reasonably suspected.

10. Cancellation and wind-down

If you cancel a competition that has taken paid votes, you must communicate clearly with voters, and refunds are handled in accordance with the Refund Policy.

Reserve and hold periods continue to apply after cancellation until the applicable chargeback window has closed.

11. Taxes

You are responsible for determining, collecting and remitting any taxes arising from your competition, including sales tax, VAT/GST, income tax and any prize-related reporting.

12. Certification at publish

Before publishing, you must certify that the information provided is accurate, that you have authority to run the competition, that you hold appropriate rights and permissions for uploaded content, that your fundraising representations are accurate, that you are responsible for your competition rules, that you understand applicable platform fees, payout holds and the chargeback reserve, and that you agree to these Organizer Terms.

Your acceptance is recorded with the date, time and terms version, and is available to you and to platform administrators as an audit record.

This document is provided for transparency and for review by qualified legal counsel before production use. Bracketed placeholders indicate information that must be completed.
