Everything to know before you run a competition
Free voting is available to every organizer. Paid voting requires a connected payout account and identity verification. Here is how the money, the rules and the responsibilities work.
Fees and pricing
Paid voting carries a fixed per-transaction platform fee, a percentage platform fee and payment processing costs. You choose whether to absorb processing costs or pass them to the voter — the builder shows both the voter total and your estimated earnings before you publish.
Payout holds
Funds settle after voting closes and are held for a defined period before release, so a portion of dispute risk is covered before payout. Your finance dashboard shows the hold and release date for each competition.
Chargeback reserve
A percentage of settlement is retained as a reserve and released after the chargeback window closes, less any disputes, refunds and fees. Where losses exceed the reserve, the shortfall is recovered from future payouts.
Certification at publish
Before a competition goes live you confirm that your information is accurate, that you have authority to run it, that you hold the rights to uploaded content, and that you understand fees, holds and the reserve. Your acceptance is recorded with the date and terms version.
Your responsibilities
- Publish accurate rules before voting opens and apply them consistently.
- Obtain contestant permission for every name, photo and detail you publish.
- Make only fundraising claims you can evidence and deliver.
- Comply with promotion, charity and tax rules in your jurisdiction.
- Respond to disputes with evidence inside card-network deadlines.
- Never vote in, or manipulate, your own competition.
